An Elevated Machan

Architectural Philosophy - The local "Machan" - Reimagined as an "elevated" dining experience. The “Machan’’, native to the Kodagu region, is traditionally a watch tower overlooking the plantations of Coorg securing them from a vantage point. Encircling a tree and made out of natural materials, this intimate dining space is characterized by the carefully crafted cane work, thatched roof, wooden floor and poles framing the “Machan”. The “Machan” was envisioned to give one a chance to commune with nature and its symphony, overlooking the lake and the surrounding estate. The lighting design for the space is exclusively from candle lights, thus offering the most authentic “Machan” experience, capturing a glimpse of the purity in the greatest design to exist - Nature.
